Committees

Take full advantage of your membership and participate on an SCMA Committee!

Becoming more involved in the organization is an excellent way to connect with other SCMA members, learn from others, and help shape our benefits and services. Plus, as a non-profit organization, we could always use the extra help!

Participation on any of our committees normally has a beginning and an end making these opportunities very flexible to fit into your schedule. Any time that you can commit is always appreciated.

If you would like to join a committee, reach out to the focal person listed or send us an email at [email protected]. Throughout the year, we will communicate to our members when new committees or projects are established, or when established committees and projects need additional assistance.

Programs Committee

The Committee develops ideas and invites speakers for SCMA's monthly or bi-monthly webinars, including our very popular "How I Made It Series".  The mechanics of running the actual webinars is handled by our SCMA staff but this committee meets to identify what webinars would be of interest to our members, what type of speakers would meet those needs, and recommends what type of presentation format would be of interest.

No specific level of experience in the mediation field is required, only a desire to help out in any way you can.  Also, it is a great way to meet other members of SCMA. This committee assists on all of our webinars except for the Family Mediation Institute (FMI), the Employment Mediation Institute (EMI) and the Annual Conference, which have their own separate committees.

If you are interested or want more information about the Programs Committee contact:  Crystal Williams at: [email protected], or Bouvier Eulen at: [email protected].

Outreach Committee

“Outreach” is comprised of two segments:  Social Media, and Attorney Outreach. The shared goal of the Outreach Committee is to expand the awareness and knowledge of mediation as well as its flexible and varied uses, while expanding the visibility and membership of the SCMA.

The Social Media Committee works to educate the public (personal and business entities) about mediation and to empower individuals to request mediation to avoid and/or to resolve their disputes. This is NEW committee that is in the formation stage. Watch for more information to be sent out to our members.
