The Southern California Mediation Association (SCMA) is the premier professional organization dedicated to the practice and promotion of mediation in California. Established in 1989, SCMA has grown to become the largest association of mediators in the state, committed to nurturing, expanding, and developing the practice, profession, and community of mediation.

Our members comprise a diverse group of professionals, including:

Our Activities and Programs

Professional Development Groups (PDGs)

Professional Development Groups are at the heart of SCMA's commitment to continuous learning and community building. As an SCMA member, you will have access to our 6 different Professional Development Groups. These groups meet regularly to discuss key topics, trends, and challenges in various areas of dispute resolution. These gatherings are a great opportunity to connect with other members, learn from peers, and enhance your skills in a variety of mediation areas.

  • Virtual Meetings: With online sessions via Zoom, members can participate from anywhere.
  • Interactive Discussions: Engage in meaningful conversations about current trends, case studies, and challenges in mediation.
  • Peer Support: Share experiences and gain insights from fellow mediators.

Sessions typically last 1- 2 hours and are attended by 12 to 30 participants, fostering an intimate yet dynamic environment for professional growth.

Educational Webinars and Workshops

  • Monthly Webinars: Covering a variety of topics such as advanced mediation techniques, ethical considerations, and sector-specific issues.

The Family Mediation Institute focuses on the unique challenges and opportunities within family mediation:

Employment Mediation Institute

The Employment Mediation Institute addresses critical issues in workplace dispute resolution:
