Tax Consideration and Opportunities in Divorce:
Helping Clients Make Informed Choices
Wednesday, December 10, 2025 | 6pm
In this session, Emily Sang will guide us through the key tax issues that often arise in family law mediation. She will cover filing status and timing, child-related tax benefits, property transfers, retirement accounts, stock options and RSUs, and practical tax strategies that help clients minimize unnecessary tax consequences. The goal of the presentation is to support mediators in helping clients make clear and informed financial decisions during the divorce process.

Emily Sang, CPA and Financial Advisor
Emily Sang is a CPA and Financial Advisor whose firm practices in California and multiple other states, with a strong focus on tax planning, compliance, and long-term financial strategy. Her firm helps individuals and small businesses reduce taxes, grow wealth, and make clear financial decisions with confidence.
Ms. Sang began her career at PricewaterhouseCoopers, one of the Big Four public accounting firms. She later served as Internal Control Director for the State of Utah’s Department of Economic Development. She has also held corporate finance and accounting leadership roles at The Walt Disney Company and Investor’s Business Daily, a global equity market information leader. Ms. Sang is the past President of the Chinese American CPA Association. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree from Brigham Young University, one of the top accounting programs in the country, and her Master of Business Administration from Utah State University.
