About Jim Melamed

Jim Melamed co-founded Mediate.com in 1996 along with John Helie and served as CEO of Mediate.com for 25 years. Jim is currently General Counsel for Resourceful Internet Solutions, Inc. (RIS), home to Mediate.com, Arbitrate.com and ODR.com.

 

Before Mediate.com, Jim founded The Mediation Center in Eugene, Oregon in 1983 and served as Executive Director of the Academy of Family Mediators (AFM) from 1987 to 1993. Jim was also the first President and Executive Director of the Oregon Mediation Association (1985-86). Jim's undergraduate degree is in psychology from Stanford University and his law degree is from the University of Oregon.

 

 

About Leyla Balakhane

 

Leyla Balakhane is a distinguished Family Law Mediator known for her dedication to improving family relations and promoting understanding. Her extensive experience as a facilitator, educator, and trainer includes leading a 40-hour mediation training program that equips professionals with crucial skills in conflict resolution. As a Board member of the Southern California Mediation Association (SCMA) and chair of its membership, Leyla significantly influences the mediation field. Her contributions have earned her the SCMA President’s Award and recognition as a Certified Advanced Practitioner by the Academy of Professional Family Mediators (APFM). Leyla also serves on the Los Angeles County Bar Association Arbitration Panel and the APFM Board of Directors, where she works to advance global mediation practices.


In her roles, Leyla mentors mediators at the Edmund D. Edelman Children’s Court and leads SCMA’s Professional Development Group for Family Law Mediators, bringing renowned speakers and fostering professional growth. Her approach to Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) combines expertise, empathy, and economic awareness, helping families navigate life’s challenges like divorce, guardianship, and more, offering empowerment and clarity.
