We are excited to invite you to our next PDG session on November 18, at 6:00 pm, as we explore the unique dynamics of mediating employment cases with in-house counsel, outside counsel, and HR representatives. When mediating employment disputes, it’s essential to understand the distinct roles and priorities of each type of company representative—and to know how to tailor your approach to maximize success. This month, we’ll discuss strategies to navigate the considerations and dynamics when in-house counsel, outside counsel, or HR is present at the table. We’ll cover: - In-house counsel priorities: Balancing legal risks with business objectives and navigating broader organizational goals.
- HR’s role in mediation: HR often serves as both client and representative, focusing on compliance, company policy, and preserving workplace culture.
- Building rapport and adapting communication to each representative’s focus—whether they bring a business, legal, or organizational lens to the mediation.
Together, we’ll facilitate a discussion with insights from Anthony Khoury and myself. As a former in-house counsel turned mediator, I'll share my perspective on the priorities and considerations from inside the company, while Anthony will share his experiences working with outside counsel in hundreds of mediations.
