Delve into the intricate role of the mediator as a conductor of conflict, with highly experienced mediators, Judith Weigle, LDA and Dr. Debra Dupree.  Explore the nuances of creating a harmonious mediation, emphasizing mediator preparation and engagement. Uncover typical and not so typical mediator challenges and responses. Learn the crucial roles of communication juxtaposed with silence, and how a mediator can skillfully use them to foster a comfortable environment, conducive to self-reflection. Mediators play a vital role in this mediation symphony, communicating through conflict, being well-prepared, and contributing with emotional intelligence. The workshop culminates with the connection between the mediator and the parties, where mediators prime parties and guide them on effective mediation preparation

Dr. Debra Dupree

Dr. Debra Dupree, the MINDSET Doc, transforms challenging confrontations into learning conversations,
taking the ‘sting’ out of conflict. She saw her own family-owned business embroiled in differences,
leading to dashed dreams, damaged relationships, and broken hearts. She turned these early
experiences into a lifeline for smart people who fear conflict by bringing in the brain science behind
blow-ups and emotional reactions. She now turns “fear and conflict into peace and profits.”

Her goal is to help professionals in all walks of life to build climates of courage and curiosity for the
people they serve, and set the tone and model the way for meaningful exchanges to “learn, listen and
grow” to stop the cycle of conflict. Building ‘psychological safety’ is central to her work.

Dr. Debra is a Dispute Resolution Specialist, Conflict | Leadership Coach, and International Trainer |
Keynote Speaker. Dr. D is the author of three eBooks to date and numerous articles. Her book Your
Emotional Potential: How You Show Up Matters”
is available on Amazon with all proceeds dedicated to
“Kids Managing Conflict” (KMC).

She is also an accomplished TEDx Red Carpet Speaker on the topic of “We’re Talking but Are We
Communicating?” She is a frequent speaker at local, regional and national conferences for lawyers and
mediators, focusing on the psychological aspects of people in conflict, not just the legal aspects of their
disputes. She serves on the Employment Mediation Panel for the American Arbitration Association and
is a regular faculty member for advanced training for lawyers and mediators.

Debra’s Philosophy: Transform Confrontations into Conversations for healthier and happier
relationships and successful mediations.

Debra’s Resources: Check out her work on “12 Cognitive Distortions” and “10 Common Triggers for
Emotionally-Intense Reactions” and much more.

Debra’s Podcast: ‘ Decoding the Conflict Mindset ’ is designed to bring ‘thought leaders’ to the dispute
resolution community worldwide for access to insights and strategies when high emotions run high and
tough negotiations are at stake.
