My fellow co-leaders Jack Schaedel, Mike Strauss, and I have a very special guest speaker for this meeting, our friend, colleague, and SCMA PDG Leader/Liaison,Sid Kanazawa, will be presenting: "Some Thoughts on Impasse: How to Transform Righteous Conflict into Collaborative Problem Solving." PLEASE MAKE SURE TO REGISTER USING THE LINK BELOW!
This presentation will explore how mediation has changed and continues to change with our greater understanding of what we are doing and how we can best achieve our goals. It will examine how the Covid-19 pandemic and the use of Zoom withdrew the blinds on sacred myths about mediation, including the old adage that, "if everyone is unhappy, it must be a good settlement,” the power of threats, and the respective role of lawyers and mediators. This presentation will also attempt to show how today’s mediations can be shorter, more productive, and less likely to hit an impasse. As most of you know, Sid has over 40 years of experience in the legal industry and has been a full-time mediator with ARC since 2019. He has extensive experience mediating complex and high-conflict legal disputes, so this is definitely a PDG meeting/presentation you do not want to miss!
We really look forward to having many of you join our next PDG meeting and participating with our fellow SCMA members!
