My fellow co-leaders Jack Schaedel, Mike Strauss, and I have a special guest speaker at the next meeting of the Employment Mediation Professional Development Group! Our friend and colleague,Barry Appell, will be presenting: "Everything You Need to Know Before Mediating a PAGA Case",THIS MONDAY, March 11th at 6 p.m. (our regular 2nd Monday of the month meeting)!
Prior to becoming a neutral, Barry practiced employment litigation for nearly 30 years. He has substantial experience representing both employers and employees. His litigation experience includes both prosecuting and defending PAGA claims and class actions. Barry began mediating in 2018, and in 2021, he became a full-time neutral with ARC. He currently mediates all kinds of employment disputes, including PAGA claims, and class actions, and he is on the AAA National Roster of Employment Arbitrators.
Barry will give a presentation on what you need to know prior to mediating any case involving a PAGA claim, and he will help us lead a discussion on practical experiences and recent case law affecting how PAGA claims are litigated. This is definitely a PDG meeting you do not want to miss!
