We are going international! Francis O jok, LLM., MA., LLB will be hosting a conversation called:Enhancing a Just and Peaceful Society: Use of mediation to interrupt the cycle of violence in Uganda.

 

This presentation explores the historical evolution of mediation, encompassing both traditional and modern perspectives. It will go into the necessity for an innovative legal framework harmonizing traditional and modern justice systems to establish a comprehensive and sustainable approach to fostering peace and justice in Uganda.

 

Francis Ojok is a trained lawyer specializing in International Arbitration and Dispute Resolution. He’s the founder and CEO of theDC Mediation & Dispute Resolution Institute. He’s a mediation Coach and has taught mediation across America and beyond. He also mediates with various organizations, including the Superior Court of the District of Columbia and Gogo Mediation based in Texas, where he serves as an arbitrator specializing in moving claim arbitration.

 

Francis is an IMI Qualified Mediator. He holds two master's degrees from renowned American universities. He obtained a Master of Laws (LLM) in International Commercial Arbitration from Pepperdine’s Caruso School of Law & the Straus Institute for Dispute Resolution and a Master of Arts (MA) in Conflict Resolution and Coexistence from Brandeis’ Heller School for Social Policy and Management. He also holds a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from Kampala International University in Uganda. In addition, Francis has obtained several mediation certifications. These include certifications from the International Mediation Campus in Europe, the Superior Court of the District of Columbia's Multi-Door ADR Division, and Interaction Management Associates.

 

Francis has done mediation and conflict resolution work in many states across America, Nigeria, Kenya, Uganda, Europe, and India. He published multiple articles on alternative dispute resolution including one on this topic! Feel free to get a glimpse of this presentation in his article.
