Rehana Jamal will lead the Westside PDG's meeting this month. She will host a conversation and activities around ways in which you can see yourself and uplift others to be leaders within the context of diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (“DEIB”). No matter what background you come from, we are all engaged with the topic because of the diverse backgrounds that we work and live in. If we can transform how we see leadership in the DEIB space, we can reduce conflict and engage in more meaningful conversations. Rehana Jamal Rehana Jamal is a conflict resolution specialist, mediator, and lawyer. She holds an LL.M. in dispute resolution from Pepperdine Law School, a J.D. from Cardozo School of Law, and is a member of the New York State Bar. Her B.A. is in psychology from Barnard College, Columbia University. Currently, she conducts trainings on conflict resolution skills and mediates civil harassment and small claim cases in the LA Court System. Her work at the High Conflict Institute, the Los Angeles Bridge Builders Collective, NewGround, and the Western Justice Center uniquely positions her at the center of the conflict resolution space in Los Angeles. She has always been fascinated by the way in which people interact, particularly in the way they communicate and navigate difficult conversations. She has tremendous experience and passion working with people from different cultural, sociopolitical, and economic backgrounds. Through her research and conversations, including her LL.M. thesis on the intersection between conflict resolution and DEIB, she has identified leadership as one of the main issues within conflict spaces. Rehana hopes participants will walk away realizing how leadership includes all of us, so that we can help reimagine the DEIB space.
We look forward to seeing you soon! Best wishes, Aurenne Datner
