Westside PDG is thrilled to host Alexandra Blodorn, who'll be leading a discussion about the use of mediation in international disputes over looted cultural art and artifacts. Indigenous communities, minority groups, and citizens of former colonial nations have suffered greatly through centuries of plundering and appropriation of important artworks and cultural artifacts. Through the possibility of emotional, social, and cultural redress, the mediation process can offer far more value to historically oppressed groups than litigious routes.

There have been many recent articles about the topic of looted art including the one found here:https://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-63075846.

Alexandra is the current Law Fellow for California Lawyers for the Arts and an LLM Dispute Resolution candidate at Pepperdine University’s Straus Institute. She graduated with First Class Honours in English Law from University College London in 2021. Alongside her legal studies, Alexandra has fostered a keen interest in the intersections of dispute resolution, the arts, and equitable justice through her work with various NGOs and aid groups. She has worked as a personal development coach with female-identifying refugees and migrants in Germany, as a volunteer legal advocate for at-risk youth in London, and as a legal research assistant for domestic and international NGOs in the areas of legal aid and international law.

We're sure this will be an informative and engaging discussion that many of you will really enjoy. We hope you'll join us.
