In the news this week we've learned that there have been allegations about unwanted sexual overtures by New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, his apology, and his call for an investigation.
The Westside PDG would like to use this as a springboard for discussions about the role of apologies, concessions, and vulnerability in mediations. How do apologies, concessions, and vulnerability affect negotiations and mediations? What
does an effective and ineffective apology, concession, and display of vulnerability look like? When are apologies, concessions, and displays of vulnerability most effective? What role should mediators play in the mediating parties apologies,
concessions and displays of vulnerability?
Attached you'll find an article, written by my Westside PDG co-leader, Sid Kanazawa, on apologies and lunch-- "two of the most effective tools of dispute resolution."
Please bring your thoughts and experiences and use the meeting as an opportunity to discuss this timely topic.
