"Mindfulness," Talia says, "is the ability to be fully present and engaged in the moment. Through mindfulness, we become conscious of our thoughts and body sensations without judgement or distraction. This way we learn to become aware of our emotions and manage them without reacting. Mindfulness can be employed to reduce stress and anxiety and clinical studies have documented its physical and mental benefits. It isn't complicated but instead is a simple practice that can be utilized daily during many activities. Mindfulness is not some hard to attain, esoteric concept; it’s available to you right now in each moment."
Talia is a native South African who practiced commercial law for about seven years before moving to Los Angeles 14 years ago. She believes in a holistic way of living and feels that mindfulness and balance in life are the keys to health and inner-peace. In addition to being an accomplished mediator and yoga instructor, Talia is a court appointed special advocate for foster children. She recently graduated with an LLM in Conflict Resolution from Straus. Her final research paper was on the power of mindfulness in dispute resolution.
