Take full advantage of your membership and participate on an SCMA Project or Committee!
Becoming more involved in the organization is an excellent way to connect with other SCMA members, learn from others, and help shape our benefits and services. Plus, as a non-profit organization, we could always use the extra help!
Participation on any of our projects or committees normally has a beginning and an end making these opportunities very flexible to fit into your schedule. Any time that you can commit is always appreciated.
If you would like to join a project or committee, reach out to the focal person listed or send us an email at email@example.com. Throughout the year, we will communicate to our members when new projects are established.
The goal of the Outreach Committee is to expand the visibility of SCMA and the process of mediation throughout Southern California. This Committee works to build and expand SCMA’s relationships with various professional organizations including bar associations, chambers of commerce, community mediation centers, mediation panels, and government organizations. Additionally, this committee is working to develop ways to educate the public about mediation and to empower individuals to request mediation to resolve their disputes. This committee meets monthly, and committee members are asked to make a one-year commitment.
Here is an example of a video that the Outreach Committee put together which they send out to various public groups when introducing themselves as potential speakers about mediation.
2020 Annual Conference Committee
Our annual conference for 2020 is scheduled for Saturday, October 17, 2020 and due to the current pandemic environment, it will be virtual. This is first time for SCMA to put on a large event using an online platform.
